Magewell has made it possible to make any HDMI or SDI device NDI capable with a browser configurable plug-and-play device. Let’s start by defining the two versions - Pro Convert Encoders and Pro Convert Decoders.
The Pro Convert NDI Encoder’s - These devices let you connect and convert your existing HDMI or SDI sources from cameras, playback devices, production, presentation, or distribution equipment into NDI stream. You can bring the stream not only to your local IP network infrastructure but also to the internet simultaneously through OBS, vMix etc. This gives you the freedom to locally capture, convert and display these feeds but to also live stream over the internet to Youtube, Twitch, Facebook etc.
The Pro Convert Decoder’s – These decode NDI streams from your IP network infrastructure for output to HDMI or SDI monitors, projectors, production or distribution equipment. As well as NDI compatibility, the decoders support SRT, RTSP, RTMP, UDP, RTP and HTTP (HLS) streams with H.264 or H.265 compression. NDI|HX support is available in newer Pro Convert NDI decoder units. The Pro Convert NDI decoders are suitable for applications including multi-site video distribution, monitoring, image magnification (IMAG), digital signage, remote production, or bridging legacy and modern media infrastructures.
Adopting NewTek’s royalty-free NDI® protocol for encoding and transmission, the Pro Converts help users easily and reliably bring traditional video signals such as HDMI and SDI into IP-based live production and AV infrastructures. The NDI streams will be available to all NDI-compatible software and systems on the same network regardless of physical distance, ensuring high-quality, with low-latency.
