What AIO Means

All-in-one. The Ultra Encode AIO has an HDMI input and an SDI input on the same unit, each with a loop-through. It encodes one programme: the HDMI source, the SDI source, or both combined as picture-in-picture or side-by-side.

Simultaneous Multi-Protocol Output

The encoded programme can go to up to six destinations at once. The protocols include RTMP and RTMPS for YouTube and Facebook, SRT, RTSP, HLS, and NDI HX2 or HX3 for vMix, OBS and other NDI systems. The encoder produces a main stream at up to 4096×2160 and 30 frames per second, plus a sub stream at up to 1080p. It also records to an SD card, a USB drive or a NAS.

Why Standalone Encoders

A software encoder ties the stream to a PC. The PC has to be on, up to date, and running the encoding software. A standalone encoder is a single-purpose box, set up from a web browser. That suits schools and houses of worship, where the stream runs every week without a technician.

4K HDMI plus 6G-SDI

The HDMI input accepts up to 4096×2160 at 60 frames per second. The SDI input accepts SD, HD, 3G and 6G-SDI, up to 4096×2160 at 30 frames per second. That suits venues with both HDMI sources, such as computers, and SDI broadcast cameras.

Comparison to Ultra Encode HDMI Plus and SDI Plus

The AIO is the two-input model. The Ultra Encode HDMI Plus and Ultra Encode SDI Plus are smaller single-input units with 128 GB of internal storage for recording, and they run on standard PoE. All three take analogue audio through a 3.5 mm line input; none has XLR connectors. Choose a Plus model for one source in a compact box, and the AIO for both input types and picture-in-picture.
