Magewell Pro Capture PCIe cards
The Pro Capture range of PCIe cards, section by section: HDMI, SDI, all-in-one, DVI and analogue, from single-channel cards to multi-input 4K models.
Watch on YouTubeNeed to get one SDI camera or router feed into a streaming, recording or switching PC? The Pro Capture SDI does it from the smallest PCIe slot, and its loop-through passes the signal on to the rest of your chain. It is a capture card that fits inside a desktop computer or server, takes one SDI source, the coaxial video connection used by broadcast cameras, and hands the uncompressed picture and sound to software on that computer. It is a one-channel HD PCIe capture card, small enough for almost any PC.
With dual-link and 3Gb dual-stream signals, the card captures the first link or first stream. Closed captions are available to developers through the SDK. The input is SDI; for HDMI sources, see the Pro Capture HDMI.
Video processing happens on the card, leaving the computer’s processor free for your software. The card handles cropping, scaling (up or down conversion), de-interlacing, aspect ratio conversion, colour space conversion and frame rate conversion, all with 10-bit processing. A PNG image can be overlaid as an on-screen display, which is handy for a logo or caption. One input can feed an unlimited number of capture streams at once, each with its own resolution, frame rate and colour format, so two programs can use the same source in different sizes. Scaling makes the picture fit the size you ask for.
For two SDI sources on one card, see the Pro Capture Dual SDI (PCIe x4, low profile, loop-through on SMA connectors). For four, see the Pro Capture Quad SDI, a normal-height card with four capture inputs. For HDMI, see the Pro Capture HDMI. All cards are on the Pro Capture range page.

Any PCI Express slot. It has a PCIe Gen2 x1 host interface, so an x1, x4, x8 or x16 slot will take it; that is how PCI Express is designed. It is a low-profile card, 87.68 × 68.88 mm without the bracket, and a low-profile bracket is supplied.
Yes. One BNC loop-through carries SD, HD and 3G-SDI, at up to 2048×1080, so a monitor or recorder can share the same feed. If you need the loop-through to stay live while the computer is switched off, ask us and test it in your setup first.
SD, HD and 3G-SDI (SD/HD/3Ga/3Gb/3Gb-DL/3Gb-DS), including 2K at 2048×1080. For 6G or 12G-SDI and 4K sources, see the Pro Capture range page.
Up to 150 m for 3G-SDI, 190 m for HD-SDI and 330 m for SD-SDI, thanks to the built-in cable equaliser. Real distances depend on cable quality.
The card and a low-profile bracket. Use your own SDI cables to connect your source.
Windows 10, 11 and Server 2016 to 2025, Linux kernel 2.6.35 and above (x86, x64 and ARM) and macOS 10.12 and above. It works with DirectShow, V4L2 and AVCaptureSession software, including OBS, vMix, Wirecast, XSplit and VLC among others.
Yes. Several cards are supported in one system, so you can add inputs later. A rotary switch on each card sets its card number (16 positions, 0 to F), and that number appears in the device name in your software.
