Capture · Record · Stream · Encode · DecodeTo record or share the picture from a surgical or endoscopy system, connect its HDMI or SDI output to a Magewell USB Capture device, and the video becomes a source on a computer for recording, streaming or conferencing. Choose the device by signal type and resolution. Confirm with your clinical engineering team that a capture device is suitable for the intended use.
For a 4K camera with an HDMI output, the USB Capture HDMI 4K Pro captures at up to 4096×2160 and 60 fps, with up to 10-bit colour depth. Its HDMI loop-through feeds the theatre monitor, so the team's display carries on working while the computer records. For 4K over SDI, the USB Capture SDI 4K Pro does the same with 12G-SDI.
Endoscopy systems typically provide an HDMI or SDI output. For HD over HDMI, the USB Capture HDMI Gen 2 captures up to 1080p60; the USB Capture SDI Gen 2 is the equivalent for HD and 3G-SDI. Older equipment with DVI, VGA, component or composite outputs suits the USB Capture AIO. Every model installs without a driver.
For remote consultations, a USB Capture device lets a clinician use a camera with an HDMI output in place of a built-in webcam. It appears in conferencing software such as Microsoft Teams as a video source, which allows a better lens and sensor than a webcam has. The same setup serves training: record a procedure or share it live with another room.
Hospital IT often restricts driver installation. Magewell USB Capture devices install without a driver and are powered from the USB port, so nothing has to be added to a managed computer first. Your USB device policy still applies, so involve IT early.
