Magewell Pro Capture PCIe cards
The Pro Capture range of PCIe cards, section by section: HDMI, SDI, all-in-one, DVI and analogue, from single-channel cards to multi-input 4K models.
Watch on YouTubeRecording a presenter's laptop or a 4K camera usually raises the same question: how does the screen keep its picture while you capture? The Pro Capture HDMI 4K Plus LT answers it on the card. It takes one HDMI signal, with its embedded audio, and makes it available to software on your computer for recording, streaming or processing. It is a one-channel 4K capture card, and the “LT” in the name stands for the feature that sets it apart: an HDMI loop-through output.
The loop-through saves you a separate splitter in front of the card, along with its power supply and extra cable. The source goes into the card, and the card hands the same signal on to the screen, so the presenter, operator or audience keeps their picture while you capture.
The input is HDMI 2.0 with a 594 MHz receiver and takes resolutions up to 4096×2160. HDMI 2.0 is the HDMI version that carries 4K at 60 frames per second, and 594 MHz is the pixel rate of that signal in standard timings. Capture frame rates go up to 144 fps, depending on PCIe bandwidth and image resolution. If one particular format matters to you, ask us and we will confirm it before you buy.
The card does part of the video work itself, before the pictures reach your software. That keeps your processor free for encoding and recording:
Magewell supplies drivers for Windows 10, Windows 11 and Windows Server 2016 to 2025, for Linux on x86, x64 and ARM (kernel 2.6.35 and above), and for Mac OS X 10.9 / macOS 10.12 and above. The card is then used through the standard capture interfaces of each system: DirectShow on Windows, V4L2 and ALSA on Linux, AVCaptureSession on macOS. Software that uses those interfaces can use the card, and there is an SDK for developers.
It is a low profile PCIe x4 card measuring 140 × 68.88 mm without its bracket, and a low profile bracket is included, so it suits compact computers as well as full-size ones. A rotary switch with 16 positions gives each card its own number, so you can tell them apart when several share one computer. The card is built for continuous 24-hour, 7-day operation. Maximum power consumption is about 8.08 W. For other inputs, see the Pro Capture range, including the Dual HDMI 4K Plus LT for two HDMI inputs and the SDI 4K Plus for SDI.

Yes. It has one HDMI input and one HDMI loop-through output, which passes the source and its embedded audio on to a monitor or other equipment, so there is no splitter to add.
The input is HDMI 2.0 with a 594 MHz receiver, the signal type used for 4K at 60 fps, at resolutions up to 4096×2160. Capture frame rate depends on PCIe bandwidth and image resolution, so ask us to confirm the format for your source.
A slot that takes an x4 card. It is a low profile PCIe x4 add-on card with a PCIe Gen2 x4 host interface.
Yes. It is a low profile card, 140 × 68.88 mm without bracket, and a low profile bracket is in the box.
Yes, it supports HDR10, along with 8, 10 and 12-bit colour depths.
Windows 10, 11 and Server 2016 to 2025, Linux on x86, x64 and ARM with kernel 2.6.35 and above, and Mac OS X 10.9 / macOS 10.12 and above. It is used through DirectShow on Windows, V4L2 on Linux and AVCaptureSession on macOS, so software built on those interfaces can use it.
About 8.08 W at most, drawn from the PCIe slot’s 12 V and 3.3 V supplies, so there is no extra power lead to connect.
