4K/30fps HDMI capture on an M.2 card — compact ingest for embedded systems.
Ask us a quick question about this product — signal compatibility, use case fit, or anything technical. We usually reply the same day.
The Eco Capture HDMI 4K M.2 puts a full 4K HDMI capture engine onto an M.2 2280 module, the same form factor used for laptop SSDs. That makes it the answer for any build where a regular PCIe slot is not available — small-form-factor PCs, fanless industrial computers, NUC-class devices, and embedded systems built into broadcast trucks, lecterns, kiosks or surgical carts.
Despite the small footprint, the underlying capture engine is the same FPGA-based design used in the full-size Pro Capture range, so colour reproduction, signal handling and software compatibility are identical to a desktop card. The card appears as a standard video device to Windows and Linux, so software does not need to be aware that this is an M.2 part rather than a PCIe one.
A common use is when an integrator needs to add 4K HDMI ingest to an existing compact appliance — for example a NUC running a lecture-capture application, or an embedded recorder built into AV racks — without redesigning the chassis. If you need 4K60 instead of 4K30, look at the Eco Capture HDMI 4K Plus M.2 variant.

The Eco Capture HDMI 4K M.2 uses an M.2 slot. Check your motherboard manual for available M.2 slots — Eco Capture M.2 cards use the PCIe lanes on the M.2 connector, not SATA, so the slot must support M.2 PCIe.
Yes. Download the Magewell Eco Capture driver from Magewell's website (free). It supports Windows 10/11 and recent Linux kernels. macOS is not currently supported for Eco Capture M.2 cards.
The Eco Capture HDMI 4K M.2 accepts HDMI (up to 4K @ 30fps).
Yes, multiple Eco Capture M.2 cards can be installed in the same system provided there are available M.2 PCIe slots. Each card is independently addressable.
The Eco Capture HDMI 4K M.2 works with DirectShow (Windows) and V4L2 (Linux) compatible software, including OBS Studio, vMix, Wirecast and Magewell Capture Express.
