Capture · Record · Stream · Encode · DecodeMost buyers need the HDMI Gen 2 for one HD source, the HDMI Plus if a monitor must stay connected, and a 4K model only for 4K capture. HDMI suits cameras, games consoles, computers, mixers and anything else with an HDMI output. SDI is for professional cameras, routing switchers and other broadcast equipment. If you are not sure you need SDI, you probably need HDMI.
A loop-through passes the incoming signal on to a local monitor while the device captures it. You need it if your source has only one output and you want a local screen as well.
The Gen 2 models have no loop-through. The HDMI Plus and SDI Plus have one, as do the 4K Plus and 4K Pro models.
The HDMI Gen 2 accepts sources up to 2048×1080 at 60 fps. To capture in 4K you need the 4K Plus or 4K Pro. The 4K Plus captures 4K at up to 30 fps and passes 4K 60 fps through to the monitor.
The 4K Pro captures 4K at up to 60 fps. It connects over USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (20 Gbps), so check your computer has a port of that speed.
HDMI Gen 2: Up to 2048×1080 at 60 fps, no loop-through, no audio jacks. Streaming, conferencing, anything where you do not need a monitor connected at the same time.
