If your capture PC has to cope with an HDMI laptop one day and an SDI camera the next, you would otherwise fit two cards or keep swapping them. The Pro Capture AIO 4K Plus is a 4K capture card for system builders, hire companies and AV teams in exactly that position. It is a PCIe capture card that fits inside a computer. “AIO” means all-in-one: the card carries both an HDMI input and an SDI input, so one card can serve whichever kind of source turns up. It is a one-channel 4K capture card, and a very practical one to keep in a machine that meets different equipment from day to day.
One channel, two connectors
The card has two input connectors feeding one capture channel. It captures SDI with embedded audio, or HDMI with embedded audio, whichever you select. That makes it the flexible choice for a single source of either kind, and it frees a slot you would otherwise give to a second card.
The card can scan its inputs automatically when the selected one has no signal, or you can choose the input by hand. To capture two sources together, choose a two-channel card such as the Dual HDMI 4K Plus LT or the Dual SDI 4K Plus.
The two inputs
- HDMI: one connector, supporting HDMI 2.0 and DVI-D 1.0, with a 594 MHz receiver. It accepts 8, 10 and 12-bit signals, HDR10 and up to 8 channels of embedded audio, and supports a custom EDID.
- SDI: one BNC connector for SD, HD, 3G and 6G-SDI, which suits older cameras as well as 6G ones. For a 12G-SDI source, choose the SDI 4K Plus.
- Resolution: input resolutions up to 4096×2160 pixels.
- Capture only: both connectors are inputs. To feed a monitor as well, ask us about a card with loop-through.
4K and frame rate
The card captures up to 4096×2160, with capture frame rates up to 144 fps. The rate you achieve depends on PCIe bandwidth and image resolution.
Processing done on the card
The card does part of the video work itself, before the pictures reach your software, which takes load off the computer and saves you doing the same steps in software:
- Two video processing pipelines with about 720 megapixels per second of processing bandwidth, and full 10-bit processing
- Scaling, cropping and de-interlacing, plus aspect ratio, colour format and frame rate conversion, so the picture arrives in the shape your software wants
- On-screen overlay (OSD composition), where a graphic is laid over the picture
- Unlimited capture streams for the input channel, which lets you feed several programs from the one source, and a latency of 64 video lines
Works with the software you already use
Magewell supplies drivers for Windows 10, Windows 11 and Windows Server 2016 to 2025, for Linux on x86, x64 and ARM (kernel 2.6.35 and above), and for Mac OS X 10.9 / macOS 10.12 and above. The card is then used through the standard capture interfaces of each system: DirectShow on Windows, V4L2 and ALSA on Linux, AVCaptureSession on macOS. That means your capture software sees it as a standard device. It works with VLC, OBS, XSplit, vMix and Wirecast among other programs, and an SDK is available for developers.
Fits a slim PC
It is a low profile PCIe x4 card measuring 140 × 68.88 mm without its bracket, with a low profile bracket in the box, so you can fit it in a compact chassis without ordering extra parts. A 16-position rotary switch numbers each card when several share one computer, so you can tell them apart in software. The firmware can be upgraded while the system stays powered, and the card is built for continuous 24-hour, 7-day operation. Maximum power consumption is about 8.4 W. The Pro Capture AIO 4K is the sibling model with an HDMI 1.4 input.
