Magewell USB Capture range
Plug-and-play HDMI, SDI, DVI and 4K capture over USB. Your computer sees the device as a webcam, so it works in OBS, vMix, Zoom, Teams and other software with no drivers to install.
Watch on YouTubePlenty of working equipment still has a VGA, DVI or component output: lab instruments, older computers, lecterns, control systems. The USB Capture DVI Plus lets you bring that equipment into streaming, recording or conferencing software without replacing it. It takes one video signal and passes it to a computer over USB as a video source. Its input is a DVI-I connector. DVI-I carries both digital and analogue video, and that is what lets this one device accept four kinds of source.
Analogue sources connect as VGA or component. Both are handled with a full range of sync types, including composite sync, which is how some VGA and component sources carry their timing signal. For composite video (CVBS) or S-Video sources, ask us and we will point you to a suitable model.
Capture to the computer is up to 2048×2160, with frame rates up to 120 fps. The HDMI receiver takes signals up to 1920×1080 at 60 frames per second in 4:4:4 colour, and analogue signals up to a 165 MHz pixel rate are sampled one-for-one, so each source pixel is captured as its own pixel. If you have a source above 1080p60, tell us before ordering and we will confirm it for you.
The device can crop, scale up or down, de-interlace (turn an interlaced picture into full frames), change aspect ratio, convert colour format, convert frame rate, and flip or mirror the picture. This is FPGA-based processing with zero CPU usage. In plain terms, the conversion work is done inside the device, which frees your computer for the software you are running. Scaling makes the picture fit the size you ask for, using the detail in the source.
If your sources are only HDMI, the USB Capture HDMI Gen 2 or USB Capture HDMI Plus is the more direct choice, and the HDMI Plus has a loop-through. The whole family is on the USB Capture range page.

DVI directly, VGA through the supplied DVI to VGA connector, and component and HDMI (HDMI 1.4a) through the supplied DVI-I to HDMI + Component breakout cable. One device covers all four.
VGA and component, with separate sync, composite sync, sync-on-green and sync-on-luminance. For composite video or S-Video sources, a different model is the right choice and we will point you to it.
Split the signal before the capture device. For HDMI sources, the USB Capture HDMI Plus has a loop-through.
Capture is up to 2048×2160 at frame rates up to 120 fps. The HDMI receiver takes signals up to 1920×1080 at 60 fps in 4:4:4. Tell us before ordering if your source is above 1080p60 and we will confirm it.
Yes. A USB 3.0 cable (63 cm), a DVI to VGA connector and a DVI-I to HDMI + Component breakout cable are in the box, so you can connect any of the four source types on day one.
Installation is driver-free, with automatic input detection. Recommended systems are Windows 10 and 11, Linux (kernel 2.6.35 and above), Mac OS X 10.9 and above, macOS 10.12 and above, and Chrome OS.
From the USB port, with a maximum draw of about 3 W (600 mA at 5 V), so there is no separate power supply. The box contains a 63 cm USB 3.0 cable and the two adapters.
