Control rooms and venues that work in NDI still have to get pictures back out to ordinary equipment: a display that wants HDMI, a vision mixer or router that wants SDI. The Pro Convert for NDI to AIO Module is the NDI decoder for that job. It takes one video stream from the network and turns it back into ordinary video for a monitor, projector, vision mixer or router. “AIO” here means it has both an HDMI output and an SDI output, and both are live together. It is a slide-in module for the Magewell Modator 2U chassis, so a rack of them can serve a whole control room or venue from one place.
HDMI and SDI together
The module decodes a stream and outputs HDMI and SDI signals simultaneously. The same decoded picture is available on both sockets all the time, with nothing to select in software. One module can feed a display over HDMI and a mixer or recorder over SDI together, which saves a separate converter between them. It also means you can decide between HDMI and SDI on the day instead of at the point of order. Each module decodes one stream, so plan one module per programme.
What goes in
- From the network. One stream of up to 2Kp60: NDI High Bandwidth, NDI HX, NDI HX2 and NDI HX3, plus H.264 and H.265 streams over RTSP, HTTP, HLS, RTMP (pull or push), MPEG-TS over UDP, SRT or RTP, and TVU. That range lets you use the same module for a studio NDI source one day and an incoming SRT contribution feed the next.
- NDI version. NDI 6.3 is supported, and the module can discover NDI devices across network segments, so sources on another part of the network are within reach.
What comes out
- HDMI. One HDMI output, up to 1920×1080 at 60 frames per second.
- SDI. One SDI output, up to 1920×1080 at 60 frames per second, covering SD, HD and 3G-SDI formats.
- Audio. 8 channels at 48 kHz, embedded in both outputs, so sound follows the picture down either cable.
- Picture controls. Image flip for inverted projector installations, and safe area controls.
- Delay. Latency is very low.

How it fits in the chassis
- Powered by the chassis. The module slides into a slot of the Modator 2U chassis, which holds up to ten modules and supplies their power. Order the chassis with it if you are starting a new rack.
- Hot-swappable. It connects to the chassis through its Modator interface and can be swapped while the rack is running, which keeps your other outputs on screen.
- Its own network socket. The module has its own Gigabit Ethernet port (RJ45), as well as a USB Type-C port for configuration.
- Power and size. It draws at most 5.2 W, inside the chassis limit of 20 W per slot. It measures 184.4 × 30.0 × 81.5 mm and weighs about 300 g.
Setting it up
- You can configure it from the touch screen on the Modator chassis, from the Web GUI in a browser, or from Magewell Control Hub for managing many devices from one place.
- HTTP-based APIs are provided for custom integration, so you can tie the module into a control system.
